There's a new book just out: Science of Michael Crichton: An Unauthorized Exploration into the Real Science behind the Fictional Worlds of Michael Crichton

It’s a collection of essays edited by Kevin Grazier, PhD, who is the science advisor for the Sci-Fi Channel series Battlestar Galactica and also works at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Grazier has already edited a book titled The Science of DuneThere's a nice introduction by the editor. He admires Michael Crichton very much.
